The game between closely ranked teams ended with 4th ranked Tsukuba R.'s (6-19) road loss to third ranked Hokkaido L. (14-11) 57-81 on Friday. The game without a history. Hokkaido L. led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Hokkaido L. outrebounded Tsukuba R. 45-31 including a 36-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. American power forward Jameel Watkins (211-77, college: Georgetown) had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 15 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Jerome Tillman (201-87, college: Ohio, agency: KMG Sports Management) chipped in 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Four Hokkaido L. players scored in double figures. At the losing side Croatian-Canadian center Ljubisa Vrcelj (210-84, college: Jacksonville) responded with 15 points and 8 rebounds and guard Satoshi Kawai (182-82) scored 15 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Hokkaido L. have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 14-11 record having seven points less than leader Aishin SH, which they share with Mitsubishi DD. Tsukuba R. lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the fifth place with 19 games lost. Hokkaido L. will face league's leader Aishin Sea Horses in Kariya in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Tsukuba R. will play at home against Chiba Jets (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
