Regular Season Round 10: Taipans - Crocodiles 87-74

There was a minor upset when 5th ranked Townsville Crocodiles (4-7) were defeated on the road by fifth ranked Cairns Taipans (4-8) 87-74. The game was mostly controlled by Cairns Taipans. Townsville Crocodiles was better in second period 26-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The former international power forward Cameron Tragardh (209-83, college: ORU) notched 24 points and 5 rebounds to lead the effort and international guard Cameron Gliddon (196-89, college: Concordia Irvine) supported him with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Cairns Taipans' coach Aaron Fearne allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 15 points by American forward Brian Conklin (198-89, college: St.Louis) did not help to save the game for Townsville Crocodiles. The former international swingman Peter Crawford (193-79) added 9 points and 9 rebounds for lost side. Despite that victory Cairns Taipans went down to seventh position due to points difference. Townsville Crocodiles at the other side keep the fifth place with seven games lost. Cairns Taipans' next round opponent will be league's leader Perth Wildcats at home and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Townsville Crocodiles will play against the league's second-placed Adelaide 36ers (#2) having rather not much hope for a victory.
