Regular Season Round 19: Lille - Denain 74-78

Everything went according to plan when tenth ranked Denain Voltaire (10-9) defeated on the road bottom-ranked Lille Metropole (5-14) 78-74 on Friday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Lille Metropole won third quarter 22-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Denain Voltaire forced 21 Lille Metropole turnovers. It was a very good performance for American forward Brandon Brown (201-85, college: CS San Bernar.) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 6 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Martin Zeno (196-85, college: Texas Tech) contributed with 20 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Brown is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Denain Voltaire's coach Fabrice Courcier used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Cape Verdean-Portuguese forward Ivan Almeida (197-89, college: Stonehill) answered with 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and Benoit Gillet (190-86) added 16 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Lille Metropole. Denain Voltaire moved-up to eighth place. Loser Lille Metropole dropped to the bottom position with 14 games lost. Denain Voltaire will face Orchesien BC (#17) in Orchies in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Lille Metropole will play on the road against Saint-Quentin and hope to win that game.
