Regular Season Round 22: Malbas - Talje 60-53

Basketettan top team - Malbas (11-1) added another victory to their record on Friday. This time they beat ninth ranked Talje Knights (3-8) in Malmo 60-53. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Talje Knights. Talje Knights trailed 30-27 at halftime, rallying from a 15-2 deficit at the end of first quarter to trim the gap. Malbas dominated on the defensive end, holding Talje Knights to just 2 points in first quarter. Forward Niklas Sellin (197-91) notched a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds to lead the effort and point guard Mario Blazevic (179-93) supported him with 7 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Malbas' coach Henrik Svensson allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 13 points and 7 rebounds by forward Erik Johansson (194-96) did not help to save the game for Talje Knights. Samuel Berkelund (201-97) added 12 points for lost side. Malbas have an impressive 11-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 11-1 record. Loser Talje Knights dropped to the tenth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Solna Branten and Eskilstuna. Malbas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Talje Knights will play against Brahe Basket (#12) in Huskvarna and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
