Regular Season Round 11: Legia - SMS PZKosz 75-61

Very expected game in Warszawa where 11th ranked SMS PZKosz (2-7) was defeated by second ranked Legia (9-1) 75-61 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Legia. SMS PZKosz was better in fourth quarter 17-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Legia forced 21 SMS PZKosz turnovers and outrebounded them 46-32 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was point guard Andrzej Paszkiewicz (180-79) who scored 23 points, 6 assists and 4 steals. Center Damian Cechniak (208-93) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds. Center Dominik Olejniczak (209-96) produced 13 points and 7 rebounds and center Mateusz Fatz (205-96) added 13 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the ninth consecutive win for Legia. They maintain second place in Group A with 9-1 record behind leader SKK Siedlce. Loser SMS PZKosz keeps the eleventh position with seven games lost. Legia will face league's leader Nowa Sol in Zielona Gora in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. SMS PZKosz will play on the road against AZS UMK Torun (#5) and hope to win that game.
