Regular Season Round 14: Basket ROW - Gorzow 76-79

The most exciting game of round 14 in the BLK took place in Rybnik. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 6th ranked Basket ROW (7-7) to seventh ranked AZS Gorzow Wielkopolski (7-7) 79-76 in the game for the sixth place. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 21-14. But Basket ROW won second period 18-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when AZS Gorzow Wielkopolski won last quarter 26-24. AZS Gorzow Wielkopolski shot 21 for 33 from the free-throw line, while Basket ROW only scored four points from the stripe. AZS Gorzow Wielkopolski forced 20 Basket ROW turnovers and had a 14-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Nigerian-American guard Chineze Nwagbo (183-82, college: Syracuse) who scored 26 points and 9 rebounds. American Taber Spani (182-91, college: Tennessee) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. Serbian center Jelena Velinovic (193-81, agency: Promotex) produced a double-double by scoring 30 points and 12 rebounds and the former international point guard Agata Gajda (175-80, agency: Promotex) added 13 points and 12 assists respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. AZS Gorzow Wielkopolski have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with defeated Basket ROW. AZS Gorzow Wielkopolski is looking forward to face higher ranked Energa Torun (#3) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Basket ROW will play against the league's second-placed CCC Polkowice and is hoping to win this game.
