Regular Season Round 9: AE Ellinikou - Proteas 64-43

Date: December 14, 2013
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Ellinikou. Second ranked AE Ellinikou faced 3rd placed Proteas. Host AE Ellinikou (9-1) smashed guests from Voula (7-3) 64-43. AE Ellinikou outrebounded Proteas 38-25 including 28 on the defensive glass. American forward Lykendra Johnson (185-89, college: Michigan St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners and the former international forward Evina Stamati (181-84) chipped in 14 points. The best for the losing side was American power forward Shanika Freeman (186-83, college: Jacksonville St.) with 17 points and 8 rebounds and Lolita Limoura scored 4 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. AE Ellinikou keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Panathinaikos. Newly promoted Proteas keeps the third place with three games lost. AE Ellinikou will meet PAOK (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Proteas will play against Athinaikos (#6) in Athens and hope to secure a win.
