Regular Season Round 21: Shimane SM - Aomori Watts 77-76

Date: December 14, 2013
There was a small surprise when tenth ranked Shimane Magic (5-14) edged at home 7th ranked Aomori Watts (8-11) 77-76 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 17 points after three quarters before their 27-9 charge, which allowed them to win the game. It was a great shooting night for Shimane Magic especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.9 percentage. American power forward LaShawn Malloy (209-84, college: New Orleans) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import forward Adrian Thomas (200-87, college: Miami, FL) chipped in 23 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Four Shimane Magic players scored in double figures. Shimane Magic's coach Vlasios Vlaikidis used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was Dutch-American power forward Stanley Ocitti (203-80, college: Binghamton, agency: R.H.Consultancy) with 29 points (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) and Nigerian forward Abdullahi Kuso (206-84, college: Tallahassee CC) scored 8 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Shimane Magic moved-up to ninth place. Aomori Watts lost their third game in a row. They keep the seventh position with 11 games lost. Shimane Magic will face again higher ranked Aomori Watts (#8) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
