No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Mogi (6-5) beat 11th ranked Minas (3-4) in Mogi das Cruzes 70-60 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Mogi. Minas was better in second period 20-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 29-of-36 free shots (80.6 percent) during the game. Mogi forced 19 Minas turnovers and outrebounded them 40-15 including a 27-10 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for power forward Thomas Gehrke (203-82, college: UTEP) who helped to win the game recording 13 points and 7 rebounds. point guard Jefferson Campos (190-91) contributed with 12 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. International point guard Elinho Corazza (193-89, college: Miami Dade CC) replied with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 assists and Douglas Nunes (201-87) added 9 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Minas. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Mogi moved-up to fifth place. Loser Minas dropped to the tenth position with four games lost. Mogi will face Sao Jose/Vinac (#6) on the road in the next round. Minas will play against Vivo/Franca (#13) and hope to win that game.
