Everything could happen in Barcelona at the game between two tied teams. Both eleventh ranked Dist.Olimpico and 10th ranked Barca CBS had identical 1-5 record. But Barca CBS was not able to use a home court advantage and was edged by the opponent from Madrid 64-63 on Saturday night. The guests trailed by 9 points at the halftime before their 25-11 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Barca CBS outrebounded Dist.Olimpico 36-23 including 24 on the defensive glass. Barca CBS was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for power forward Elena Lopez (185-93) who led her team to a victory scoring 13 points and 5 rebounds. Maria Villar helped adding 14 points. At the losing side Vanesa Almansa (-94) responded with 19 points and 7 rebounds and Gala Mestres scored 14 points. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Dist.Olimpico (2-5) moved-up to ninth place in Group B, which they share with Leganes. Barca CBS lost their fourth game in a row. Barca CBS at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the eleventh position with six games lost. Dist.Olimpico will face Leganes (#10) at home in the next round. Barca CBS will play against Araski AES in Vitoria-Gasteiz and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
