Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both fifteenth ranked Montbrison and 16th ranked Saint-Brieuc had identical 4-9 record. This time Montbrison used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Saint-Brieuc 97-90 on Saturday night. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Saint-Brieuc won fourth quarter 26-23. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Montbrison shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 58.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. Georgian center Georges Mdivani (204-85, agency: Promotex) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. American Keonta Howell (193-85, college: Toledo) contributed with 20 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American forward Jahmar Thorpe (198-84, college: Houston) replied with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Jimmy Lupot (190-83) added 16 points and 9 assists in the effort for Saint-Brieuc. Five Montbrison and four Saint-Brieuc players scored in double figures. Saint-Brieuc's coach Denis Mettay rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Montbrison (5-9) moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Lourdes. Saint-Brieuc at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the fifteenth position with ten games lost. Montbrison will face Lourdes-Tarbes (#13) on the road in the next round. Saint-Brieuc will play against UB Chartres and hope to win that game.
