Regular Season Round 22: Chiba Jets - Wakayama T. 87-90

Fifth-ranked Chiba Jets (4-21) gave a tough game to second ranked Wakayama T. (17-6). The visitors from Wakayama managed to secure only three-point victory 90-87. However their fans expected easier game. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Chiba Jets won fourth quarter 19-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Chiba Jets 41-23 including a 29-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Americans were the main players on the court. Forward Michael Parker (202-81, college: Evergreen St.) notched a double-double by scoring 19 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and power forward Rick Rickert (211-83, college: Minnesota, agency: SportsTalent) supported him with 15 points and 8 rebounds. Wakayama T.'s coach Zeljko Pavlicevic allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 23 points by forward Thomas Kennedy (201-87, college: Detroit Mercy) did not help to save the game for Chiba Jets. Forward Alan Wiggins (206-85, college: USF) added 19 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Newly promoted Wakayama T. maintains second position with 17-6 record having six points less than leader Aishin SH. Chiba Jets lost twentieth first consecutive game. Chiba Jets at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the sixth place with 21 games lost. Wakayama T. will play against league's second-placed Toyota Alvark in Tokyo in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Chiba Jets will play on the road against Tsukuba R. (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
