The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Perfumerias Avenida (8-2) in Salamanca on Saturday night. Hosts were edged by Gran Canaria (8-2) 77-74. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Perfumerias Avenida. It was a key game for the top position in the league as both teams had the same 7-2 record before this meeting. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Perfumerias Avenida won third quarter 22-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Gran Canaria won last quarter 15-14. They made 21-of-23 free shots (91.3 percent) during the game. Naturalized Senegalese center Astou Ndour (198-94) fired a double-double by scoring 25 points and 19 rebounds for the winners. American forward Chelsea Davis (188-90, college: Florida St.) chipped in 22 points and 6 rebounds (made all of her ten free throws !!!). Montenegrin-American swingman Eshaya Murphy (181-85, college: USC) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and Croatian center Marija Rezan (198-89) added 8 points and 14 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Perfumerias Avenida players scored in double figures. Gran Canaria have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Perfumerias. Gran Canaria is looking forward to face Jopisa Burgos (#4) at home in the next round. Perfumerias Avenida will play against Socinsa Bembibre and is hoping to win this game.
