Regular Season Round 10: Denso Iris - Hitachi Cougars 85-64

Very expected game in Kariya where 8th ranked Hitachi Cougars (2-8) were crushed by second ranked Denso Iris (9-1) 85-64. The game was mostly controlled by Denso Iris. Hitachi Cougars was better in fourth quarter 23-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Denso Iris dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Hitachi Cougars' 30. Worth to mention a great performance of international power forward Maki Takada (183-89) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Yasuko Itou (160-90) contributed with 14 points and 5 assists for the winners. Denso Iris' coach felt very confident using 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Aiko Ishihara (178-92) replied with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 13 rebounds and forward Hikaru Ogasawara (174-88) added 13 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Hitachi Cougars. Four Hitachi Cougars players scored in double figures. Denso Iris have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 9-1 record behind leader JX Sunflowers. Newly promoted Hitachi Cougars dropped to the ninth place with eight games lost. Denso Iris' next round opponent will be Toyota B SR (#10) in Aichi and are hoping to win another game. Hitachi Cougars will play at home against Fujitsu RW and hope to win that game.
