Regular Season Round 12: Start Lublin - Astoria Bydg. 70-54

There was no surprise when 11th ranked Astoria Bydg. (3-9) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Start Lublin (7-5) 70-54 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Start Lublin. Astoria Bydg. was better in fourth quarter 21-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Astoria Bydg. to just 5 points in second quarter. The best player for the winners was Patryk Pelka (202-89) who had a double-double by scoring 12 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Power forward Marcel Wilczek (204-86, agency: Promotex) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds. Four Start Lublin players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Mateusz Bierwagen (196-88, agency: Promotex) who recorded 12 points and 6 rebounds and guard Piotr Robak (192-91) added 10 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Start Lublin moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Wilki Morskie and WKK Wroclaw. Astoria Bydg. lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with nine games lost. Start Lublin will face higher ranked MKS DG (#4) in Dabrowa Gornicza in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Astoria Bydg. will play at home against Kutno (#3) and hope to win that game.
