Regular Season Round 22: Tochigi Brex - Kumamoto V. 91-71

There was no surprise when 6th ranked Kumamoto V. (4-20) was outplayed on the road by fourth ranked Tochigi Brex (13-11) 91-71 on Sunday. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Tochigi Brex's pressure prevailed and they won that period 33-16 extending their advantage to 20 points. They made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. American power forward Ryan Rossiter (204-89, college: Siena) scored 27 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and international swingman Takatoshi Furukawa (190-87, agency: Norton Sports Management) chipped in 20 points during the contest. Furukawa is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Tochigi Brex's coach Antanas Sireika used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side American forward DeVaughn Washington (202-89, college: Ohio, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Lamont Jones (183, college: Iona) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds. Five Tochigi Brex and four Kumamoto V. players scored in double figures. Tochigi Brex maintains fourth position with 13-11 record. Kumamoto V. lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the sixth place with 20 games lost. Tochigi Brex will face higher ranked Mitsubishi Dolphins (#3) in Nagoya in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Kumamoto V. will play at home against Hitachi Sunrockers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
