Regular Season Round 11: KFI - Valur 85-68

Rather expected game when 12th ranked Valur (1-10) lost to ninth ranked KFI (3-8) in Isafjordur 68-85. The game without a history. KFI led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. KFI outrebounded Valur 46-28 including a 33-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. It was a great evening for the former international forward Mirko Virijevic (201-81, college: Freed-Hardeman) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 16 rebounds. American guard Jason Smith (183-83, college: Al.-Huntsville) helped adding 19 points, 7 rebounds and 14 assists. KFI's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American forward Chris Woods (195-89, college: Pfeiffer) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists and center Birgir Petursson (205-86) scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. KFI maintains ninth place with 3-8 record. Valur lost their fifth game in a row. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with ten games lost. KFI will play against higher ranked Njardvik (#4) in Njardvik in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Valur will play at home against Haukar (#7) to get more than just one victory in their record.
