Regular Season Round 11: Zornotza - Palma 74-85

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Palma (6-4) beat 11th ranked Zornotza (3-7) in Amorebieta-Echano 85-74 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 10 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 11 points. Palma forced 20 Zornotza turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for forward Ivan Matemalas (194-80) who led the winners and scored 24 points. Power forward Antonio Pantin (206-88, agency: Interperformances) accounted for 9 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side. Palma's coach Matias Cerda used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Trinidad and Tobago center Kyle Rowley (213-90, college: St.Mary's, CA) came up with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 15 rebounds and Chadian forward Djimadoum Bandoumel (203-85, college: Idaho) added 17 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Zornotza in the defeat. Four Zornotza players scored in double figures. Palma moved-up to fourth place. Zornotza lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the eleventh position with seven games lost. They share it with Araberri. Palma will meet at home league's second-placed Fuenlabrada in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Zornotza will play against Prat (#3) and hope to secure a win.
