Regular Season Round 12: Matera - Proger BLS 71-64

Date: December 15, 2013
The game in Matera was also quite interesting. 5th ranked Chieti (7-5) played at the court of eighth ranked Matera (7-5). Matera managed to secure a 7-point victory 71-64 on Sunday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Chieti. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 71-64. Matera made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. The winners were led by American guard Anthony Jones (191-84, college: Indiana Tech) who scored that evening 16 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import forward Kyle Austin (203-88, college: Cal-Riverside) supported him with 13 points and 6 rebounds. Five Matera players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 22 points and 13 rebounds by center Mattia Soloperto (208-80) did not help to save the game for Chieti. American forward Matt Shaw (203-88, college: UNLV, agency: Two Points) added 13 points and 5 rebounds. Matera have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated Chieti. Matera will meet Roseto (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Chieti will play against P.Mantovana (#13) and hope to secure a win.
