Regular Season Round 22: Niigata Albirex - Saitama Bron. 77-73

Not a big story in a game when 11th ranked Saitama Broncos (2-18) were defeated on the road by third ranked Niigata Albirex (15-7) 77-73. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Niigata Albirex shot 23 for 39 from the free-throw line, while Saitama Broncos only scored seven points from the stripe. 30 personal fouls committed by Saitama Broncos helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American players dominated the game. Center Patrick Sullivan (206-88, college: SE Louisiana) notched a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds to lead the effort and guard Nile Murry (193-83, college: TCU) supported him with 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Even 23 points and 9 rebounds by swingman John Humphrey (188-80, college: Middle Tenn.St.) did not help to save the game for Saitama Broncos. Power forward Mark Dawson (206-83, college: Long Beach St.) added 20 points and 13 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Niigata Albirex maintains third position with 15-7 record behind leader Akita NH. Saitama Broncos lost fifteenth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with 18 games lost. Niigata Albirex's next round opponent will be Oita Heat Devils (#3) at home, which may be the game of the day. Saitama Broncos will play against Takamatsu FA (#7) and hope to win that game.
