Regular Season Round 11: Maccabi Rishon - Hapoel Holon 64-82

Date: December 15, 2013
The game between 11th ranked Maccabi Rishon (3-8) and sixth ranked Hapoel Holon (6-5) in Rishon Le-Zion on Sunday ended with biggest points difference. Guests from Holon beat Maccabi Rishon 82-64. The game was mostly controlled by Hapoel Holon. Maccabi Rishon was better in second period 21-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hapoel Holon looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Maccabi Rishon's players. American Brian Asbury (200-86, college: Miami, FL) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Laurence Bowers (203, college: Missouri) contributed with 12 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Hapoel Holon's coach Lior Lubin used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Shawn Dawson (193-93) answered with 15 points and 6 rebounds and the former international point guard Dror Hagag (178-78, agency: Avi Zilberman) added 15 points in the effort for Maccabi Rishon. Hapoel Holon moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Maccabi Haifa and Hapoel Eilat. Loser Maccabi Rishon keeps the eleventh position with eight games lost. Hapoel Holon will face higher ranked Maccabi T-A (#4) in Tel-Aviv in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Maccabi Rishon will play at home against Ironi Nes-Ziona (#3) and hope to win that game.
