Regular Season Round 11: Bnei Hertzeliyya - Galil Gilboa 75-74

A very interesting game took place in Hod Hasharon. It ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 8th ranked Galil Gilboa (5-6) to ninth ranked Bnei Hasharon (5-6) 75-74 in the game for the eighth place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Galil Gilboa. Galil Gilboa was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Bnei Hasharon made 28-of-33 charity shots (84.8 percent) during the game. They brought some defensive toughness making 9 blocks. 27 personal fouls committed by Galil Gilboa helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was point guard Avi Ben-Chimol (194-85, agency: Z.A.G. - Law Offices) who scored 19 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Nigerian-American point guard Michael Umeh (188-84, college: UNLV, agency: Two Points) chipped in 17 points. American forward DeShawn Sims (203-88, college: Michigan) produced 26 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and the other American import forward Rick Jackson (206-89, college: Syracuse) added 17 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Bnei Hasharon moved-up to eighth place, which they share with defeated Galil Gilboa. Bnei Hasharon's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Hapoel Tel-Aviv at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
