Regular Season Round 11: Mitsubishi K. - JX Sunflowers 87-61

Round 11 in WJBL means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Nagoya where host Mitsubishi K. (8-3) crushed league's leader JX Sunflowers (10-1) 87-61 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the ten-game winning streak of JX Sunflowers. The game was mostly controlled by Mitsubishi K.. JX Sunflowers managed to win third quarter 21-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was swingman Aya Watanabe (170-92) who scored 23 points. International center Enjin Wantsu (189-87) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds. Four Mitsubishi K. players scored in double figures. The former international forward Yuka Mamiya (185-90) produced 14 points and 7 rebounds and the former international power forward Ramu Tokashiki (191-91) added 10 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. JX Sunflowers' coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Mitsubishi K. maintains fifth place with 8-3 record, which they share with Fujitsu RW. Defending champion JX Sunflowers still keep top position with one game lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Denso Iris who have the same record. JX Sunflowers will play next round against strong Toyota A. trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Mitsubishi K. will try to continue on its current victory against seventh ranked Aishin Wings in Anjo.
