Regular Season Round 10: Elitzur Holon - Maccabi R.Hen 68-89

The biggest surprise of round 10 in D1 was guest Maccabi Ramat Hen's (5-4) easy road victory over one of their biggest challengers Elitzur Holon (4-5) 89-68 on Monday evening. The game without a history. Maccabi Ramat Hen led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Elitzur Holon's 36. Maccabi Ramat Hen had a 30-17 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Maccabi Ramat Hen made 7 blocks. American Ashley Shields (180-85, college: SW Tenn.St.CC) fired 33 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American-Armenian center Brittany Denson (188-87, college: S.Florida) chipped in a double-double by scoring 22 points, 11 rebounds and 6 blocks (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). American guard Rebekah Gardner (185-90, college: UCLA) produced a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds and her fellow American import Bernice Mosby (186-84, college: Baylor) added 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Four Elitzur Holon players scored in double figures. Maccabi Ramat Hen moved-up to third place, which they share with Ramat Hasharon. Elitzur Holon lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. They share it with H.R. Le-Zion. Maccabi Ramat Hen is looking forward to face Bnot Hertzeliya (#7) at home in the next round. Elitzur Holon will have a break next round.
