Regular Season Round 14: Grodno-93 - Sozh Gomel 98-65

The game between Top Four teams took place in Grodno. Top-ranked host Grodno-93 (14-0) smashed second-ranked Sozh Gomel (11-3) 98-65. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Sozh Gomel. The game was mostly controlled by Grodno-93. Sozh Gomel was better in third quarter 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 17-of-18 charity shots (94.4 percent) during the game. Grodno-93 forced 19 Sozh Gomel turnovers and outrebounded them 50-36 including a 20-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. The former international guard Dzmitry Kuzmin (196-75) notched 26 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and the former international forward Kanstantin Yafremov (202-86, agency: Promotex) supported him with 25 points and 10 rebounds. Four Grodno-93 players scored in double figures. Grodno-93's coach Andrei Vasileuka felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 11 points and 6 rebounds by Ukrainian forward Sergei Dadukin (198-83) did not help to save the game for Sozh Gomel. Ukrainian forward Ivan Kaliayev (201-87) added 9 points and 6 rebounds for the guests. Grodno-93 have an impressive 14-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 14-0 record. Sozh Gomel at the other side keeps the second place with three games lost. Grodno-93 will play against bottom-ranked Borisfen (#8) in Mogilev in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Sozh Gomel will play at home against Prinemanye (#6) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
