Regular Season Round 12: BC Astana - BK Kapshagay 104-72

Very significant was BC Astana's (#1, 14-0) victory against 4th ranked BK Kapshagay (7-9) 104-72. It looked good early as BK Kapshagay took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then BC Astana had a 37-24 second period charge getting the lead and BK Kapshagay was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 72-104. BC Astana shot 60.9 percent from the field. They also forced 20 BK Kapshagay turnovers. Strangely BK Kapshagay outrebounded BC Astana 35-23 including 23 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three nailing 16 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. The winners were led by naturalized Australian swingman Anatoly Kolesnikov (200-88, college: Nicholls St., agency: Priority Sports) who scored that evening 18 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and the former international forward Dmitriy Klimov (202-88) supported him with 13 points. Five BC Astana players scored in double figures. Coach Aleksandar Trifunovic's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 14 points and 5 rebounds by Russian guard Ivan Krivko (190-84) did not help to save the game for BK Kapshagay. The former international center Vsevolod Fadeikin (207-85) added 11 points and 5 rebounds. BC Astana (14-0) have an impressive 12-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with a perfect record of 14 victories in a row. Newly promoted BK Kapshagay keeps the fourth place with nine games lost. BC Astana will play against league's second-placed Barsy Atyrau at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. BK Kapshagay will play against Kaspiy Aktau and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
