Regular Season Round 13: Umea - Northland 60-85

The most interesting game of round 13 in the Damligan was a home defeat of 4th placed Umea (5-2) by third ranked Northland (6-1) who outscored them by 25 points 85-60 in the game for the third place. The game was mostly controlled by Northland. Umea managed to win second period 16-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game, while Umea only scored two points from the stripe. Serbian Dajana Butulija (176-86, agency: Interperformances) stepped up and scored 24 points for the winners and American guard Brittany Smart (175-85, college: Cedarville) chipped in 13 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Northland players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Jeannie Saunders (173-86, college: Salem Intern.) responded with 8 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists and international guard Agnes Nordstrom (180-88) scored 6 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. Umea's coach Mikael Blomqvist gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Northland have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain third place with 6-1 record having nine points less than leader Norrkoping. Umea at the other side keeps the fourth position with two games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
