An interesting game took place in Leon where 10th ranked Lechugueros (8-14) were upseton its own court by thirteenth ranked Gigantes (6-15) 83-79 on Thursday. The guests trailed by 6 points at the halftime before their 24-13 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Lechugueros outrebounded Gigantes 43-0 including a 36- advantage in defensive rebounds. Gerrick Griffin fired 23 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American forward Derek Thomas (193-84, college: Appalachian St.) chipped in 20 points and 6 assists. Bahamas power forward Ryan Moss (200-74, college: UALR) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 15 rebounds and American guard Greg Preer (191, college: Ashland) added 20 points and 11 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five Gigantes and four Lechugueros players scored in double figures. Gigantes maintains thirteenth place with 6-15 record. Lechugueros lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with 14 games lost. Gigantes will meet higher ranked Panteras (#9) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lechugueros will play against Abejas having rather not much hope for a victory.
