Regular Season Round 11: Trefl Sopot - Asseco 79-58

Date: December 20, 2013
The game between second ranked Trefl Sopot (8-2) and 8th ranked Asseco (4-7) in Sopot ended with biggest points difference. Trefl Sopot outscored guests from Gdynia 79-58. The game was mostly controlled by Trefl Sopot. Asseco was better in second period 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a quality performance of American guard Lance Jeter (190-88, college: Nebraska) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 6 rebounds. International Michal Michalak (196-93) helped adding 12 points and 6 rebounds. Five Trefl Sopot players scored in double figures. The former international forward Piotr Szczotka (196-81, agency: Alti Sport) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds and American point guard A.J. Walton (184-90, college: Baylor) scored 18 points and 5 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Trefl Sopot have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place with 8-2 record behind leader Stelmet ZG. Asseco at the other side dropped to the ninth position with seven games lost. Trefl Sopot will play against PGE Turow (#5) in Zgorzelec in the next round. Asseco will play on the road against AZS Koszalin (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
