There was no surprise when 15th ranked Olympique Antibes (2-10) was defeated at home by twelfth ranked ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (5-7) 75-68 on Friday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 22-15. But Olympique Antibes won second period 20-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket won last quarter 20-15. They made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Edwin Jackson (191-89) who scored 24 points. Naturalized Mali forward Amara Sy (202-81) chipped in 11 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Four ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Willie Solomon (187-78, college: Clemson) who recorded 14 points and his fellow American import guard Larry O'Bannon (194-83, college: Louisville, agency: Interperformances) added 13 points respectively. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket will face higher ranked Paris-Levallois (#6) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
