Regular Season Round 25: Fuerza Regia - Huracanes 74-76

The most exciting game of round 25 in the LNBP took place in Monterrey. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 5th ranked Fuerza Regia (12-8) to seventh ranked Huracanes (11-11) 76-74 on Friday evening. Fuerza Regia was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Strangely Fuerza Regia outrebounded Huracanes 28-0 including a 23- advantage in defensive rebounds. 30 personal fouls committed by Fuerza Regia helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Dominican power forward Elys Manuel Guzman (204-82, college: Bemidji St.) stepped up and scored 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and American swingman Cliff Tucker (198, college: Maryland) chipped in 15 points. At the losing side Cuban point guard Reynaldo Garcia (187-90) responded with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and American center Kentrell Gransberry (206-85, college: S.Florida) scored 9 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Huracanes maintains seventh place with 11-11 record. Fuerza Regia at the other side keeps the fifth position with eight games lost. Huracanes are looking forward to face higher ranked Toros (#6) in Nuevo Laredo in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Fuerza Regia will play at home against Correcaminos and is hoping to win this game.
