Regular Season Round 15: Fujian QB - TianJin S. 118-117

Everything could happen in Jinjiang at the game between two tied teams. Both tenth ranked Fujian and 8th ranked TianJin Steel had identical 8-6 record. This time Fujian used a home court advantage and edged the opponent from Tianjin 118-117 on Friday night. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 38-26 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Fujian made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. Fujian outrebounded TianJin Steel 45-31 including a 30-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. TianJin Steel was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for international Zhelin Wang (215-94) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 39 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds. American center Will McDonald (211-79, college: S.Florida) helped adding 26 points and 14 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American point guard Sebastian Telfair (183-85) with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 5 rebounds and 11 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and the other American import forward Shelden Williams (206-83, college: Duke) produced a double-double by scoring 29 points and 11 rebounds. Four Fujian and five TianJin Steel players scored in double figures. TianJin Steel's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Fujian (9-6) moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Zhejiang CB. Loser TianJin Steel keeps the eighth position with seven games lost. Fujian will face higher ranked Beijing Ducks (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. TianJin Steel will play against Shanghai Sharks (#4) and hope to win that game.
