Regular Season Round 12: Hitachi Cougars - Toyota B SR 67-80

Everything could happen in Hitachinaka at the game between two tied teams. Both tenth ranked Toyota B SR and 9th ranked Hitachi Cougars had identical 2-9 record. But Hitachi Cougars were not able to use a home court advantage and were defeated by the opponent from Aichi 80-67 on Saturday night. The game was mostly controlled by Toyota B SR. Hitachi Cougars was better in third quarter 34-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Hitachi Cougars to just 7 points in second quarter. Toyota B SR forced 19 Hitachi Cougars turnovers. It was a good game for guard Yoshie Watanabe (162-86) who led her team to a victory with 19 points and 6 assists. Power forward Sari Osabe (174-87) contributed with 19 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Forward Hikaru Ogasawara (174-88) replied with 20 points and 6 rebounds and Aiko Ishihara (178-92) added 20 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Hitachi Cougars. Toyota B SR (3-9) moved-up to ninth place. Hitachi Cougars lost third consecutive game. Hitachi Cougars at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the tenth position with ten games lost. Toyota B SR will have a break next round. Hitachi Cougars will play again on the road against Toyota B SR (#9) in Aichi and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
