Regular Season Round 23: Tsukuba R. - Chiba Jets 57-81

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when sixth ranked Chiba Jets (5-21) smashed on the road 5th ranked Tsukuba R. (6-20) 81-57 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Chiba Jets. Tsukuba R. was better in third quarter 19-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Tsukuba R. to just 4 points in first quarter. Chiba Jets dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Tsukuba R.'s 24. They outrebounded Tsukuba R. 51-38 including 36 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American forward Alan Wiggins (206-85, college: USF) who had a double-double by scoring 25 points and 15 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Thomas Kennedy (201-87, college: Detroit Mercy) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. Coach Reggie Geary's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Croatian-Canadian center Ljubisa Vrcelj (210-84, college: Jacksonville) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds and guard Hiroya Oogane (180-89) added 22 points respectively for the hosts. Newly promoted Chiba Jets maintains sixth place with 5-21 record. Tsukuba R. at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fifth position with 20 games lost. Chiba Jets will have a break next round. Tsukuba R. will play again at home against Chiba Jets (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
