There was no surprise when 8th ranked AB Ancud (2-9) was crushed on the road by third ranked Osorno Basq. (7-4) 97-77 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 97-77. Osorno Basq. made 29-of-37 free shots (78.4 percent) during the game. They also forced 24 AB Ancud turnovers and outrebounded them 46-30 including a 24-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American power forward Rashad Jones-Jennings (203-84, college: UALR) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 20 rebounds. The former international point guard Gonzalo Velasquez (185-81) helped adding 18 points. Four Osorno Basq. players scored in double figures. American forward Dallas Green (203-88, college: Robert Morris) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds and guard Marquis Johnson (180-86) scored 21 points and 5 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Osorno Basq. have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain third place with 7-4 record behind leader Talca. AB Ancud lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with nine games lost. Osorno Basq. will meet at home CD Puerto Varas (#6) in the next round. AB Ancud will play against Universidad de Concepcion and hope to secure a win.
