Regular Season Round 11: Iberostar Tener. - Valladolid 84-68
Date: December 21, 2013
No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked CB Canarias (6-5) beat bottom-ranked Blancos de Rueda (1-10) in Tenerife 84-68 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by CB Canarias. Blancos de Rueda was better in second period 16-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. CB Canarias had a 30-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. The former international swingman Saul Blanco (196-85) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points. Montenegrin center Blagota Sekulic (209-82) contributed with 15 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four CB Canarias players scored in double figures. Jamaican-American forward Omari Johnson (205-89, college: Oregon St.) answered with 13 points and 8 rebounds and American guard Jason Rowe (178-78, college: Loyola, MD, agency: Two Points) added 20 points in the effort for Blancos de Rueda. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. CB Canarias moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Gipuzkoa. Blancos de Rueda lost eighth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with ten games lost. CB Canarias will face Laboral Kutxa (#12) in Vitoria in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Blancos de Rueda will play at home against Blusens Monbus (#15) and hope to win that game.
