Regular Season Round 23: Iwate Big Bulls - Fukuoka Rizing 85-77

The game between closely ranked teams ended with fifth ranked Iwate Big Bulls' (12-7) home victory over 6th ranked Fukuoka Rizing (8-11) 85-77 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Fukuoka Rizing won fourth quarter 28-26. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Iwate Big Bulls forced 19 Fukuoka Rizing turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Iwate Big Bulls made 7 blocks. American forward Lawrence Blackledge (206-86, college: Marquette) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points and 7 rebounds. Blackledge is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American forward Reginald Warren (204-81, college: W.Florida) answered with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds and Trinidad and Tobago power forward Julius Ashby (205-82, college: Colorado) added 18 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Fukuoka Rizing. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Iwate Big Bulls maintains fifth place with 12-7 record. Fukuoka Rizing lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the seventh position with 11 games lost. Iwate Big Bulls will face again Fukuoka Rizing (#7) at home in the next round.
