Regular Season Round 12: Castello - Askatuak 84-66

Everything went according to plan in Castellon where sixth ranked Castello (6-5) beat bottom-ranked Askatuak (2-10) 84-66 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Castello. Askatuak was better in second period 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Castello forced 22 Askatuak turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Askatuak's players. Worth to mention a great performance of Nigerian-American power forward Olasumbo Atoyebi (203-87, college: Elon) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points and 16 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and power forward Alberto Ausina (203-81) who added 12 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Castello's coach Toni Ten used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was forward Aritz Martinez (201-82) with 16 points and 6 rebounds and forward Xabier Perez (198-91) scored 11 points and 6 rebounds. Four Askatuak players scored in double figures. Castello moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Askatuak at the other side stay at the bottom position with ten games lost. Castello will face Cambados (#9) on the road in the next round where they are favorite.
