Fifteenth-ranked Macae (3-9) gave a tough game to first ranked Winner/Limeira (9-1) on Saturday. Winner/Limeira managed to secure only two-point victory 76-74. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 20-15 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Worth to mention a great performance of Dominican-American guard Ronald Ramon (182-86, college: Pittsburgh) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and American guard David Jackson (196-82, college: Penn St.) who added 14 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was the former international guard Eduardo Machado (193-82) with 19 points and 5 assists and Argentinian Pablo Espinoza (200-87) scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. Four Winner/Limeira and five Macae players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Winner/Limeira maintains first position with 9-1 record. Macae lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifteenth place with nine games lost. Winner/Limeira are looking forward to face SKY/Basquete (#12) in Aldeota in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Macae will have a break next round.
