Regular Season Round 12: Korsarz Gdansk - Kalisz 68-94

Bottom-ranked Korsarz Gdansk (0-11) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 94-68 loss to third ranked Kalisz (8-4) in Gdansk on Saturday evening. The game without a history. Kalisz led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Korsarz Gdansk's 34. Kalisz forced 28 Korsarz Gdansk turnovers. The best player for the winners was swingman Artur Mrowczynski (194-84) who scored 26 points. Power forward Tomasz Zyber (207-89) chipped in 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Pawel Ossowski (200-92) who recorded a double-double by scoring 12 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and Marcin Skiba (190-90) added 18 points respectively. Four Korsarz Gdansk players scored in double figures. Korsarz Gdansk's coach Andrzej Kwasniewski already knew that his team would not have a big chance, so allowed to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Newly promoted Kalisz maintains third position in Group A with 8-4 record having just one points less than leader Legia. Loser Korsarz Gdansk still closes the standings with 11 games lost. Kalisz will face league's leader Legia in Warszawa in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Korsarz Gdansk will play on the road against Basket Pila (#10) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
