Regular Season Round 8: Cafe Barco - Cortegada 65-70

There was a minor upset in Badajoz where 7th ranked Cafe Barco (3-5) was defeated by ninth ranked Cortegada (3-5) 70-65 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Cafe Barco won third quarter 16-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was Senegalese center Mame Coumba Sy (-95) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. Power forward Andrea Rios (187-91) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. Four Cortegada players scored in double figures. Guard Regina Gomez (173-82) produced 24 points and 5 rebounds and swingman Maria Bolonio (180-85) added 14 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for the hosts. Cortegada moved-up to eighth place in Group A, which they share with defeated Cafe Barco. Cafe Barco lost fourth consecutive game. Cortegada will face higher ranked Arxil Pontevedra (#7) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
