Regular Season Round 24: Shiga L-Stars - Toyama Grouses 80-95

The game in Shiga was also quite interesting. Second ranked Toyama Grouses (17-5) played at the court of 5th ranked Shiga L-Stars (10-12). Toyama Grouses defeated Shiga L-Stars 95-80 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 95-80. Toyama Grouses dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Shiga L-Stars' 42. They outrebounded Shiga L-Stars 37-25 including 26 on the defensive glass. Toyama Grouses looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Shiga L-Stars were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Sam Willard (205-88, college: Pacific) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 11 points and 17 rebounds and guard Mito Takeshi (184-85) who added 15 points and 7 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was Panamanian forward Dionisio Gomez Camargo (203-80, college: Arkansas) with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds and American forward Marshall Brown (199-85, college: Missouri) scored 13 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Toyama Grouses and four Shiga L-Stars players scored in double figures. Toyama Grouses maintains second position with 17-5 record having just -2 point less than leader Akita NH. Loser Shiga L-Stars dropped to the sixth place with 12 games lost. Toyama Grouses will face Bambitious Nara (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Shiga L-Stars will play against Gunma and hope to win that game.
