Regular Season Round 24: Tsukuba R. - Chiba Jets 63-75
Date: December 22, 2013
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 5th ranked Tsukuba R. (6-21) was defeated at home by sixth ranked Chiba Jets (6-21) 75-63. The game was mostly controlled by Chiba Jets. Tsukuba R. was better in second period 19-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The winners were led by American forward Thomas Kennedy (201-87, college: Detroit Mercy) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 30 points and 14 rebounds and power forward Ryumo Ono (197-88) supported him with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Even a double-double of 12 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists by American power forward Lamar Sanders (198-84, college: Lamar) did not help to save the game for Tsukuba R.. Guard Satoshi Kawai (182-82) added 14 points and 6 rebounds. Four Tsukuba R. players scored in double figures. Chiba Jets moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Hitachi SR and Tsukuba R. Chiba Jets' next round opponent will be Kumamoto V. (#6) at home. Tsukuba R. will play against Hitachi Sunrockers in Tokyo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
