No shocking result in a game in Changchun where fifteenth ranked Jilin Tigers (5-11) smashed 17th ranked Qingdao Eagles (3-13) 123-103 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Jilin Tigers. Qingdao Eagles was better in fourth quarter 34-33. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Jilin Tigers dominated down low during the game scoring 80 of its points in the paint compared to Qingdao Eagles' 42. Jilin Tigers forced 20 Qingdao Eagles turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Qingdao Eagles were plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. American power forward Denzel Bowles (208-89, college: JMU) fired a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. The other American import forward Leon Rodgers (201-80, college: N.Illinois) chipped in 27 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Nigerian-American point guard Josh-Emmanuel Akognon (180-86, college: CS Fullerton) produced a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 assists and Palestinian center Sani Sakakini (204-88) added 21 points and 20 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Jilin Tigers moved-up to fourteenth place. Loser Qingdao Eagles keep the seventeenth position with 13 games lost. Jilin Tigers will face higher ranked Jiangsu Dragons (#12) in Nanjing in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Qingdao Eagles will play at home against Shandong Bulls (#10) and hope to win that game.
