Regular Season Round 24: Iwate Big Bulls - Fukuoka Rizing 78-68

Rather expected game when 7th ranked Fukuoka Rizing (8-12) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Iwate Big Bulls (13-7) 78-68 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 78-68. Iwate Big Bulls dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Fukuoka Rizing's 36 and made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Fukuoka Rizing 42-26 including 30 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Panamanian forward Leonardo Pomare (203-86, college: San Diego) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 14 rebounds and American forward Josh Peppers (201-85, college: Cent.Florida, agency: Court Side) who added 10 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Four Iwate Big Bulls players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was point guard Jun Nakanishi (180-82, college: Santa Monica CC) with 21 points and American forward Reginald Warren (204-81, college: W.Florida) scored 9 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Iwate Big Bulls have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 13-7 record. Fukuoka Rizing lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 12 games lost. Iwate Big Bulls will have a break next round. Fukuoka Rizing will play at home against Yokohama BC (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
