Regular Season Round 11: Triestina - Alghero 82-32

Date: December 22, 2013
Not a big story in a game when 7th ranked Alghero (1-9) was outplayed on the road by third ranked Triestina (6-3) 82-32 on Sunday. The game without a history. Triestina led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Alghero to just 3 points in second quarter. Triestina held Alghero to an opponent 22.4 percent shooting from the field compared to 57.6 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Alghero 43-23 including a 36-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Hungarian forward Anna Vida (185-85, agency: Interperformances) who scored 30 points and 5 rebounds (on 13-of-16 shooting from the field). Guard Stefania Trimboli (178-96) chipped in 19 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. point guard Sara Azzellini (170-86) produced 11 points and 6 rebounds and guard Marika Zanardi (175-81) added 10 points respectively for the guests. Alghero's coach Giorgio Barria already knew that her team would not have a big chance, so allowed to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Newly promoted Triestina maintains third place in North-East with 6-3 record having just three points less than leader Vigarano. Loser Alghero keeps the seventh position with nine games lost. Triestina will face San Salvatore (#5) on the road in the next round. Alghero will play against the league's leader Udine and hope to win that game.
