Regular Season Round 12: Azpeitia - Cambados 67-76

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both tenth ranked Cambados and 9th ranked Azpeitia had identical 4-6 record. But Azpeitia was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Cambados 76-67 on Sunday night. Azpeitia trailed by 12 points at halftime and as many as 15 after three quarters before a 22-16 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 67-76 at the end of the game. Worth to mention a great performance of Cuban point guard Taylor Garcia (182-87) who helped to win the game recording 13 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and center Alberto Rodriguez (206-75) who added 8 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Lithuanian center Gediminas Zyle (210-88) with 23 points and 5 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and swingman Ibon Guridi (193-92) scored 11 points and 6 rebounds. Four Azpeitia players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cambados (5-6) moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Marin. Azpeitia at the other side dropped to the tenth position with seven games lost. Cambados will face higher ranked Castello (#7) in Castellon in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Azpeitia will play on the road against Araberri in Vitoria-Gasteiz and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
