No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Cantu (8-3) beat at home 6th ranked Armani Milano (6-5) 87-72 on Monday. Strangely Armani Milano outrebounded Cantu 35-23 including 25 on the defensive glass. American forward Maarten Leunen (206-85, college: Oregon) orchestrated the victory by scoring 12 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. His fellow American import guard Joe Ragland (182-89, college: Wichita St.) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Four Cantu players scored in double figures. International swingman Alessandro Gentile (200-92) answered with 28 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and American Keith Langford (193-83, college: Kansas) added 21 points in the effort for Armani Milano. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cantu have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Banco di Srd and Enel Brindisi. Loser Armani Milano keeps the sixth position with five games lost. Cantu will face Umana Venezia (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Armani Milano will play against Vanoli Cremona (#16) and hope to win that game.
