Seventh-ranked TianJin Steel (9-8) used its home court advantage to challenge second ranked Xinjiang Flying Tige (14-3) in Tianjin on Wednesday. The visitors from Urumqi managed to secure only two-point victory 95-93. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But TianJin Steel won third quarter 20-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Xinjiang Flying Tige had a 21-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. 27 personal fouls committed by TianJin Steel helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American Lester Hudson (190-84, college: Tenn-Martin, agency: Priority Sports) orchestrated the victory by scoring 32 points and 6 rebounds. Forward James Singleton (203-81, college: Murray St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Xinjiang Flying Tige's coach WanJun Cui used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American forward Shelden Williams (206-83, college: Duke) answered with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 14 rebounds and the other American import point guard Sebastian Telfair (183-85) added 24 points and 5 assists in the effort for TianJin Steel. Five Xinjiang Flying Tige and four TianJin Steel players scored in double figures. Xinjiang Flying Tige have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They maintain second place with 14-3 record behind leader Guangdong ST. TianJin Steel at the other side dropped to the sixth position with eight games lost. They share it with 5 other teams. Xinjiang Flying Tige are looking forward to face Beijing Ducks (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. TianJin Steel will play against Shanxi Zhongyu in Taiyuan and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
