No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Maccabi Ramat Hen (6-4) beat at home 7th ranked Bnot Hertzeliya (3-7) 78-68 on Thursday. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 45-34 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Maccabi Ramat Hen made 25-of-33 free shots (75.8 percent) during the game. Maccabi Ramat Hen outrebounded Bnot Hertzeliya 46-28 including a 16-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. Americans were the main players on the court. It was an exceptional evening for swingman Karima Christmas (182-89, college: Duke) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 31 points, 17 rebounds and 6 assists. Ashley Shields (180-85, college: SW Tenn.St.CC) accounted for 22 points and 6 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) for the winning side. Forward Jessica Breland (190-88, college: N.Carolina) came up with 29 points and 7 rebounds and guard Chelsea Hopkins (173-90, college: San Diego St.) added 19 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists respectively for Bnot Hertzeliya in the defeat. Maccabi Ramat Hen moved-up to third place, which they share with Ramat Hasharon. Newly promoted Bnot Hertzeliya keeps the seventh position with seven games lost. They share it with Elitzur Netanya. Maccabi Ramat Hen will meet Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion (#6) on the road in the next round. Bnot Hertzeliya will play against Elitzur Holon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
